Brief Biography
I was born in Kazerun, Iran, on 22 May 1960.
I obtained my BSc degree in physics at Shiraz University in 1985. I was then
awarded a scholarship by Shiraz University, to do my graduate studies abroad.
After finishing my MSc and PhD programs at Sussex University in England, I returned
to Iran, and was employed by Shiraz University in 1990. I have now a permanent
position at the physics department of this university.
I got married in 1991 with Zahra Hashemi, and I have two children Mohammad
Sadegh and Maryam. Zahra has a B.Sc. degree in Biology.
Academic Degrees
BSc: 1985, physics, Shiraz University, Iran (distinction).
MSc: 1987, astrophysics, Sussex University, England (distinction).
Thesis: The Age of the Universe, under the supervision of Prof. L. Mestel.
PhD: 1990, astrophysics and cosmology, Sussex University, England.
Thesis: WIMPs and the Early Stages of the Evolution of Low Mass Stars, under the
supervision of late Prof. R.J. Tayler.
Research Interests
I have two main research interests:
1. Gravitation and the physics of the early universe,
2.Nonlinear fields and their soliton solutions. In recent years, I have concentrated
more or less on non-linear fields. In particular, I am interested in soliton
modelling of classical and relativistic particles. This involves both analytical
and numerical investigation. An example of the research work carried out,
is the introduction of a coupled sine-Gordon system, which exhibits an
interesting and rich dynamics. The system possesses a set of different
soliton solutions, which have non-degenerate masses and various conserved
topological charges. I had some education in observational astronomy in
my undergraduate and M.Sc. studies. Although I have not followed that line
seriously, but every now and then I collaborate with some of the graduate
students who do observational work at Biruni Observatory.
